The origin of Suez Canal University (SCU) goes
back to 1976, when the regions of Suez Canal and Sinai were seeking
to meet the needs of the community and the aspirations of their
citizens for education development, especially after long years
of sacrifices and war. Since its foundation, it has grown and is
now considered one of the largest and certainly one of the most
popular of the new universities.
The
dedication of SCU to the needs of the community has been manifested
throughout its history and will definitely continue with more strength
in the future. For that cause the university has established a number
of facilities that include:
- Environmental
research station at South Sinai (St. Katherine)

in Sinai, and National Planning Strategy for Canal and Sinai Governorates.
To support the university in its drive for modernization in the
globalization era, SCU has recently established a “University
Education Development Center (UEDC)”. The center is very well
recognized for its unique comprehensive organizational structure.
It includes organizational units such as: Total Quality and Accreditation,
E-Learning and information Resources, HR Training and Development,

the strategic importance of the center, it reports directly to the
president of the university, who is in the same time the chairman
of the board of directors.
